MASTER OF ARTS IN ENGLISH

Introduction

The Master of Arts in English is a comprehensive one whose purpose is to expand students’ intellectual horizons and offer language proficiency skills that enhance career choices. It is designed to ensure a range of study in the major areas of English (Literature, Language, and TESOL).

Admission

The entry requirement for the M.A. in English Program is Bachelor Degree or B.A. Honors in English. Admission into the M.A. in English Program is on a competitive basis. Candidates are selected for admission on the basis of past academic records, written tests, and /or a viva examination.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

A student will have to complete 60 credits (20 courses) out of which 21 credits (7 courses) are common in all the fields of English while the remaining 39 credits (13 courses) are particularly from English Literature or English Language or TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages).

WORKLOAD

The minimum number of credit hours that a student must take per semester is 12 and the maximum is 18. This may be relaxed only with the special permission of the appropriate authority of the University.
